But for my real actual hard-work playthroughs I stick with the DOS version. Personally, I play UC more on a not-so-serious level in short runs just to explore or maybe to check out a location without the serious limitations on render distance. and it usually ends in walking away rather than actually finding it. Ever had a game save that required a specific build and couldn't find it because it just was somehow forgotten? Yeah, not fun. For fresher saves it may be different, seems hit or (s)miss.Īfter reading in the forums that even when upgrading to a next release of UC that you "might want to start with a fresh save" (start over.) I decided that it would be in my best interests to just stick with the DOS version, at least that one isn't going to change or suddenly become incompatible with my save files. For "seasoned" saves I can get it as far as recognizing the save files and trying to load them, but then of course it can't. Really disappointing because my game that is like halfway through the game was in that old dos one, before UC ever existed, and I thought it would be nice to finish it in UC, but nope not going to happen, I guess.
